Thur. 10:35 a.m.: Two additional deaths reported at Trumbull long-term-care facilities

The Ohio Department of Health is reporting that there were two additional deaths involving long-term-care facilities such as nursing homes and assisted living facilities in Trumbull County this week.

The ODH does not list what facilities had deaths, but it indicated that there have been 164 deaths involving such facilities in Trumbull County, which is two more than last week.

The number of deaths associated with long-term-care facilities in Mahoning and Columbiana counties did not change this week.

Meanwhile, one Mahoning County facility saw an increase of seven COVID-19 infections this week.

The Crandall Nursing Home in Sebring has six patient cases of COVID-19 this week and two staff cases. Last week, the facility had just one staff case.

It is not clear how many COVID-19 infections there are at other Mahoning Valley nursing homes and assisted living facilities this week because the list on the ODH web site Thursday appeared to contain numerous listings that had not been updated for at least one week.

Ohio prison data appeared to have been updated, and it showed lower numbers of COVID-19 infections this week at the private Northeast Ohio Correctional Center and Ohio State Penitentiary, both in Youngstown.

NEOCC has 11 staff cases and three inmate cases, compared to 17 staff cases and five inmate cases last week. OSP has two staff cases and no inmate cases this week, compared to seven staff cases and no inmate cases last week.

The Trumbull Correctional Institution in Leavittsburg has an increase in COVID-19 infections this week. It has six staff cases and four inmate cases this week, compared to six staff cases and no inmate cases last week.

The state is reporting that the number of COVID-19 infections at all state prisons was up this week, rising from 155 last week to 169 this week.
