Fri. 10:15 a.m.: Woman injured in early Friday residential blaze

BRACEVILLE — An older woman was treated for minor burns and smoke inhalation at Trumbull Regional Medical Center following an early morning fire Friday in the 3800 block of Eagle Creek Road.

The fire, which was called in around 2:25 a.m. and was contained mostly to a bedroom, appears to have been accidental, said Braceville Fire Chief Todd Garland. He estimated the damage to the house at around $100,000 and said the specific cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

The woman is doing fine, Garland said, but firefighters were unable to rescue a German Shepherd that died from smoke inhalation.

Some nine departments assisted with the fire, according to Garland. No firefighters were injured.
