Girl Scouts help residents with new blessing box
BRISTOL — Members of Junior Girl Scout Troop 80827 have added a bright yellow blessing box at the township center park that will provide food and other items to people in need.
The box was unveiled today by the third- and fourth-grade scouts, who gathered at the park with their families. Troop Leader Dawn Hochstetler said it was filled with food by the scouts from the Bristol and Champion areas.
“We will see what people need. Right now it is mostly nonperishable food. Anyone who needs food can come by and get what they need. If people have food they don’t need, they can drop off items,”Hochstetler said.
She said the 14 Scouts will earn badges for the community service project
“We had the blessing box assembled by a Scout parent and then the Scouts painted it. We held a meeting and sat down and discussed different ideas. Portia Robinson came up with this idea of the blessing box, which we liked. Other Scouts brought food to stock it. Everyone contributed the way they could,” Hochstetler said.
