Severe storms sweep through area
No tornadoes reported, despite warnings
WARREN – A tornado warning issued this afternoon for Warren, Niles and Mineral Ridge expired at 1:45 p.m., with no tornadoes reported, according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland.
Heavy showers, wind, thunder and lightening are expected to continue through the afternoon as the system moves out of the area. Strong winds, up to 40 mph, are expected to last until 2:30 p.m., while the rain is expected to continue until 8 p.m.
Tornado sirens in Warren sounded just after 1 p.m., and continued until the warning expired. Residents and workers at area businesses were taking cover in basements.
The tornado warning expired at 1:45 p.m.
