10 new COVID-19 deaths in Valley – nine in Mahoning County alone

There are at least 193 COVID-19 confirmed deaths in the state, including 42 in the Mahoning Valley.

There were 167 state deaths and 32 in the Valley a day earlier.

Nine of the new deaths in the Valley came from Mahoning County. The county’s public health department reported today the number increased from 19 to 28, but said not all of the newly-reported deaths happened in one day.

The date of COVID-19 death notifications can sometimes be delayed and the “daily increase does not indicate the number of individuals who have died in the last 24 hours.”

Mahoning is now the leader, by far, among counties in the state for COVID-19 deaths.

Also, Columbiana County reported a sixth death today.

There remains eight deaths in Trumbull County.

There are 5,148 confirmed cases of the virus in Ohio today, up from 4,782 Tuesday.

There are 305 cases in Mahoning County, up from 300 Tuesday.

There are 126 cases in Trumbull County, up from 110 a day earlier.

In Columbiana County, there are 71 cases, up from 59 Tuesday.

Statewide, 1,495 people have been hospitalized as of today because of the virus, up from 1,354 Tuesday.

There are 472 people in intensive-care units, up from 417 Tuesday.
