Fri. 12:42 p.m.: SUV crashes through Howland dental surgeon’s office wall
HOWLAND — An elderly woman who crashed her BMW SUV through the wall of Dr. Terry B. Philibin, DDS, shortly after 9:20 a.m. today is believed to have been in shock but unhurt, according to Howland Assistant Fire Chief James Sapp.
The SUV drove through the front wall and window of 405 Niles Cortland Road.
“It was fortunate we did not have any patients in the waiting room,” Rebecca Ewing, a receptionist in the oral surgeon’s office said. “It is not unusual for us to have two to three patients waiting at that time. We just happened to be between patients.”
Ewing described seeing the car approaching the window in the moments before seeing it drive through it.
“There was a loud boom,” Ewing said. “The driver kept apologizing. I just wanted to make sure she was not hurt.”
