Thu. 11:48 a.m.: Boy on bike hit by car in Mecca
A Mecca boy was thrown from a bicycle and seriously injured Wednesday evening on state Route 88 near Morrell Ray Road in Mecca, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Samantha Frank, 21, of Cortland, was driving east in a 2015 Ford Escape. While she was passing the boy as he headed in the same direction, he made an “abrupt” left turn in front of Frank and was struck, according to the patrol report.
The boy was thrown from the bike, suffered serious injuries and was transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. His identity was not released.
Frank was not injured.
The patrol is investigating. The Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office and the Mecca Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
