Mon. 1:21 p.m.: Law off ballot for Warren mayor, vows appeal
WARREN – The Trumbull County Board of Elections today ruled Randy Law cannot run as an independent candidate for Warren mayor because it felt he did not prove he disaffiliated himself from the Republican Party.
The board voted 3-1 keep Law’s name off the November ballot. Law, ex-chairman of the Trumbull County Republican Party, pledged to appeal the decision and said he’s confident it will be reversed.
Warren resident and attorney Daniel B. Letson is challenged Law’s party affiliation, claiming Law was still a Republican and as such, cannot run as an independent.
The sides argued the case earlier today at a hearing at the elections board.
Law wants to challenge incumbent Mayor Doug Franklin.
