Wed. 10:47 a.m.: Florida man killed in wrong-way crash on I-80

LIBERTY — A wrong-way driver died this morning after a collision with a tractor-trailer rig on Interstate 80, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Dennis E. Roller II, 54, of Pensacola, Fla., was killed after his eastbound 2019 Ford Flex hit the left front side of a 2007 Kenworth tractor-trailer that was traveling west on I-80, near state Route 711, according to the patrol report. The crash occurred at 12:54 a.m., the report states.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash in which Roller was traveling the wrong direction on the interstate, according to the patrol report.

Roller, who has family in the area, died while at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital’s emergency room, according to the patrol.

Muazam Shah, 33, of Dublin, the tractor-trailer driver, was not injured.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol Warren Post, with the assistance of the state patrol Commercial Enforcement section, is investigating. Liberty Township police, fire department, the Vienna Township EMS, and the Ohio Department of Transportation assisted at the crash scene.
