Wed. 11:30 p.m.: Warren man dead of gunshot wounds

WARREN – One person died and another is in critical condition after each suffered gun shot wounds Tuesday in the Warren Heights area on the city’s northwest side.

Police were called about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday to the area of 463 Maryland Ave. NW, where they encountered a large group of people surrounding a man lying in the parking lot behind the apartment complex.

The man had been shot in his left hip area, a police report states, and he was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Warren Hospital.

A second gunshot victim, a man who was shot in the leg, had already left the scene prior to officers’ arrival to be driven to Trumbull Regional Medical Center, the police report states. He was was later transported by helicopter to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

The shooting victims were identified as Jackqwuan K. Williams, 25, 725 Webb Ave. SW, and Shyhiem W. Williams, 1180 Roberts Ave., Apt. G1, both of Warren. Neither the police report nor the Trumbull Coroner’s office has distinguished which victim died.

A police report states two juveniles were later arrested; however, it is unclear on what charges. One is being held in the Juvenile Justice Center, and the other has been released to a parent. No further details on the juveniles have been released.
