Thurs. 12:30 p.m.: Convicted ex-teacher granted early prison release
WARREN – A former Warren G. Harding teacher who is serving time for a sex offense involving a student will be released early from prison, a judge ruled this morning.
Eric Kline, 26, a former intervention specialist at Harding was sentenced in October to serve 18 months in prison after being convicted of sexual battery involving a student with a learning disability at the high school.
The victim, who was 16 at the time, and her friend testified at the trial, as did Kline.
Trumbull Common Pleas Judge Ronald Rice this morning agreed to place Kline on five years of community controlled sanctions after reviewing Kine’s motion seeking early release.
Kline will remain a Tier III sex offender, meaning he will have to register with the county Sheriff’s office any time he moves for the rest of his life.
Kline is required to write a 250-word letter of apology to the victim and the minor that testified during the trial.
