YOUNGSTOWN – Classes at Youngstown State University are canceled Thursday, the second-straight day the school has canceled classes due to the weather.

NILES – The Niles Wellness Center is open to Niles residents as a warming station, today and Thursday, for those without access to heat or electricity.

Residents may use the facility 9 a.m. to 9 pm. daily. Those in need of warmth shall have access to vending machines, water, coffee, and a heated environment.

The Niles Fire Department also is open to Niles residents as an overnight warming station, beginning 9 tonight through 9 a.m. Thursday.

For weather related emergencies, contact the Niles Fire Department at 330-652-4321.

Vienna Township has opened the fire station as a warming center today and Thursday.

Trustee Phil Pegg said the American Red Cross will provide cots and blankets.

Trustees want residents to know that if their power goes out or if they have no place to go, they can stay at the fire station until the cold spell breaks, Pegg said.

The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library system remains open. All programs today are canceled due to the weather, but the doors are open.
