Tues. 7 p.m.: Another mosquito tests positive for West Nile

WARREN – A second mosquito pool from the bicycle trail in Champion has tested positive for West Nile virus, according to the Trumbull County Combined Health District.

The sample was collected between Aug. 21 and 22. The first sample taken from the same area on the Western Reserve Greenway Bike Trail was between July 18 and 26.

The area was treated after the first positive test. The second test was to determine how well the treatment worked, according to the district.

There are no reported human cases of the virus in Trumbull County, but the health district is asking, because there is a presence, for “the community to be vigilant against being bitten by a mosquito,” a news release from the district states.
