Tues. 7 p.m.: Lordstown power plant completes ‘first fire’

LORDSTOWN – A test run of the $890 million Lordstown Energy Center was completed Monday night, and the plant is on track for a September or October opening.

Eric Stasiowski, spokesman for Lordstown Energy Center, said the testing began Thursday and ended Monday night.

William Siderewicz, who controls a 4 percent stake in Clean Energy Future Lordstown, which owns the plant, said he is “ecstatic” over the results of the “first fire.”

“A plant of this magnitude is complex technologically,” said Siderewicz. “Hundreds of subsystems have to work together. It gives us comfort that things are operating correctly.”
