Sun. 9:48 p.m.: Here’s where to observe Memorial Day in your community

Memorial Day events scheduled for Monday include:

* BRACEVILLE — 10:15 a.m. service at Braceville Christian Church, followed by parade at 11 a.m. from township center to the township cemetery, where a service will be at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon at the road department garage.

* BROOKFIELD — 10 a.m. service at Brookfield Center, state Route 7, followed by a procession to the Veterans Memorial at the cemetery, followed by a community picnic luncheon at the fire hall, state Route 7. Speaker will be Brookfield graduate Thomas Matusch.

* CHAMPION — 9 a.m. parade starting at St. William Church parking lot off state Route 45 and traveling north to the cemetery for service.

* FOWLER — 10 a.m. service on center green with parade at 10:30 a.m. and veterans service 11 a.m.

* GIRARD –10:45 a.m. service at monument, Girard Multi-Generational Center, 443 Trumbull Ave.

* GIRARD –11 a.m. service at Girard Cemetery with placing of wreath and readings by Girard High School students.

* HARTFORD — 10 a.m. service at the veterans marker, township center, state Routes 7 and 305.

* HOWLAND — 10 a.m. service at Howland Township Cemetery, hosted by American Legion Post 700, with an open house at the post home, 8272 High St.

* JOHNSTON –Service 10 a.m. at South Cemetery, followed by luncheon at VFW Hall.

* LEAVITTSBURG — Parade at 10 a.m. at American Legion Post 699 with services to follow at the memorial on West Market Street.

* LORDSTOWN — 10 a.m. service at cemetery on Salt Springs Road.

* MESOPOTAMIA — 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. luncheon at Mesopotamia Town Hall, followed by a march to the cemetery at 1 p.m., where children place flags on veterans graves. Service will be led by Pastor John Bramley.

* NEWTON FALLS — 10 a.m. parade will form at the west parking lot of Cadle Co. by the fire station and will move out at 10:30 a.m. south on North Canal to Broad Street to the West River Bridge for a service by the VFW Auxiliary 3332 for those lost at sea, followed by a program at Veterans Park with speaker Lou Salreno of the U.S. Navy.

* NILES — 10 a.m. service at Niles Fire Department, 15 E. State St.

* NILES — 11 a.m. service at Niles City Cemetery hosted by American Legion Post 106.

* SOUTHINGTON — 10:45 a.m. flag raising at Chalker Building with parade starting 11 a.m. on state Route 305 to Pinecrest Cemetery for a service hosted by American Legion Post 751, then return to the Chalker building. Parade participants meet 10 a.m. at Chalker building.

* VIENNA — 12:30 p.m. observance at township gazebo at the township center, followed by a walk to the Soldiers and Sailors Monument to remember the American soldiers who have died in military service. Lunch will be served at AMVETS post.

* WARREN — Trumbull County Memorial Day services begin 9:30 a.m. with casting the wreath on the waters near Warren Community Amphitheatre. Service held at 10 a.m. at Warren Community Amphitheater or inside at Presbyterian Church in case of rain. Parade starts around 11 a.m.

* WEATHERSFIELD — 2 p.m. ceremony at Kerr Cemetery hosted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4192.

* WEST FARMINGTON — 10 a.m. service at West Farmington Methodist Church and 11 a.m. parade from the old field mill to the cemetery for services.
