Bristol library sets book sale

LIBRARY OPEN HOUSE: The Bristol Public Library will host an open house 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. There will be tours, refreshments and giveaways, including the Friends of the Library book sale. Children in grades K-12 will receive school supplies.

BACK TO SCHOOL FAIR: Rhonda’s House Home Healthcare LLC will host a Back to School event 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Perkins Park pavilion in Warren. The event will include school supplies, raffles, waterslides and food.

TEEN SCENE: Teen Scene will be 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the McKinley Birthplace Home, Niles, for ages 12 to 18. There will be games and pizza. To register, call 330-652-1701, ext. 4.

COOKBOOK CLUB: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will host Cookbook Club 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the McKinley Birthplace Home. This month’s theme is food influencer cookbooks. For more information or to register, call 330-652-1704, ext. 3.

WOOFSTOCK SET: The Steel Valley Woofstock music festival to benefit local animal charities is Saturday at Packard Music Hall in Warren. There are two tiers of tickets available. For $60, guests can get dinner, dessert, nonalcoholic drinks, entry into a progressive prize drawing and live music, as well as access to the basket raffle and rock & roll memorabilia silent auction. All seats at this price are floor seats. For $35, guests get premium balcony seating on a first-come, first-seated basis. For $25, guests get open balcony seating in certain sections.

The bands this year are the Steel Valley All Stars featuring Rajma and Dennis Drummond with other musicians joining them on stage. Their performance will be 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Headliner Fantastic Cat will perform 9 to 10:30 p.m.

Tickets for the dinner and show must be purchased in advance with a deadline of today at www.steelvalleywoofstock.org. Music-only tickets will be available at the door.

COMMUNITY CONNECT WEEKEND: The Oak Hill Collaborative’s Youngstown branch will host its inaugural Community Connect Weekend with an e-waste collection drive 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and a vendor fair 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, at 507 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown.

The e-waste collection drive is open to the public.

Many items are free to drop off, including laptops, PCs, DVD players, MP3 players, gaming consoles, routers, hard drives, keyboards, wires, scanners, LCD monitors, servers, cameras and other technology. Printers have a disposal fee of $10, and CRT monitors and TVs have a $20 fee, cash only.

Items that cannot be dropped off include home medical equipment and kitchen appliances.

OHC partnered with local recycler GreenBoard IT to ensure all collected materials are properly discarded.

The free vendor fair features tables for small businesses, area nonprofits, food trucks and more. Hosted by Trina Williams, owner and founder of A Fresh Wind Catering, the event will feature live music from local musician TaeShawn Madison, and kid’s crafts such as tie-dye and painting.
