McKinley Library to host Easter celebration
EASTER CELEBRATION: McKinley Memorial Library presents an Easter Celebration 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday on the grounds of the National McKinley Birthplace Memorial (weather permitting).
There will be an Easter egg hunt for children ages 0 to 9, with participants asked to bring their own basket or bag. Kids can take pictures with the Easter Bunny and meet therapy bunnies from F5RS Rabbit Rescue & Sanctuary. This program will take place at the library and on the memorial grounds.
PET CLINIC: The Marjorie Hartman Family Foundation Pet Clinic, hosted by the Youngstown State University Pre-Veterinary Society, will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, or until vaccines run out. The clinic will be in the YSU Stambaugh Stadium Gymnasium. Pets must be on short leash or in a carrier. Vaccines available include dog combo vaccine for $20, cat combo vaccine for $25, bordetella for $20, and rabies vaccine for $5. Also available will be microchip placement for $30, dog heartworm test for $15, feLV / FIV test for $25, fecal flotation test for $5 and free nail trimmings. There is a limit of two pets per person and vaccines are limited to the first 250 pets. Licensed veterinarians will be on site to administer vaccines and do blood tests. Only cash will be accepted for services.
FIRST WEDNESDAY: The Upton Association’s “First Wednesday” series will feature Tom O’Grady speaking on “The Barn Builders: An Architectural Legacy in Ohio’s Rural Landscape.” Refreshments will be served at 9:30 a.m. prior to the lecture at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Upton House in Warren. The program is free and open to the public.
Tom O’Grady sailed as a deck worker on an ore carrier on the Great Lakes aboard a sister ship of the fated Edmund Fitzgerald, surveyed for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, launched the first comprehensive curbside recycling program in the state of Ohio and has been promoting waste reduction and sustainable economy for 30 years. O’Grady also has been an instructor of Observational Astronomy in the evenings at Ohio University for 30 years. He has spent a good deal of the past 25 years as a student of Ohio history researching its geography and settlement, the mound builders, Ohio canals, and several of its interesting characters and their stories. EASTER BASKETS: Emmanuel Community Care Center in Girard is hosting an Easter basket distribution for children ages 2 to 11 whose parents are registered at the center. Those registered who wish to receive an Easter basket should call the center between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. through Friday . All families will be called when baskets are ready to be picked up. Individuals who would like to donate candy or small toys to make up the Easter baskets should contact the center at 330-545-4301. Items need to be delivered to the center by Tuesday.
CEREAL DRIVE: McKinley Memorial Library will present a cereal drive Tuesday through April 26. The library will collect boxes of cereal to benefit Niles Community Services. All brands and flavors of cereal are welcome. Boxes should be unopened and unexpired. Donations may be dropped off at the library or at Niles Community Services.
AUTHOR TALK: McKinley Memorial Library will present “Wordsmith and Wonder: An Author Talk with Jodi Picoult” at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

COIN CLUB TO MEET: The Wheatland Mercer County Coin Club will have its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at 3050 Prosperity Place, Hermitage, Pa. All are invited, and there is light food and beverages. Monthly meetings include a main raffle, special raffle, coin auction, door prizes, birthday prizes, children’s gifts, educational presentations and much more.
