Library to learn about Bigfoot

BIGFOOT PROGRAM: Bigfoot researcher Amy Bue will speak 1 p.m. Saturday at the National McKinley Memorial Museum in Niles. The program is for ages 12 and older. Bue is an educator and writer from northeastern Ohio whose fascination with Bigoft began in 2012. She will discuss her work, including with the Olympic Project in Washington state.

ASSOCIATION MEETING: The Northwest Neighborhood Association monthly meeting will be 6:30 p.m. today at Grace Methodist Church on Drexel Avenue, Warren. Speaker will be Councilman Todd Johnson, I-1st Ward.

Socks for the Warren Family Mission are being collected and the church pantry is always in need of nonperishable food items.

VALENTINE’S PARTY: The Friends of the Girard Library will host a Valentine’s Day themed party at noon Saturday at the library’s community room. The event will include a basket raffle. Registration is needed by Wednesday at the circulation desk or call 330-545-2508.

FAMILY DAY: The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown will host a Family Day 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday, There will be tours, demonstrations, a scavenger hunt and art activities. The event is open to all ages.

CREATING PANDEMICS: McKinley Memorial Library will present “How We Create Pandemics, From Our Bodies to Our Beliefs” with Smithsonian Curator Sabrina Sholts, at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

INTRO TO OIL PAINTING: McKinley Memorial Library will present Intro to Oil Painting 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the McKinley Birthplace Home in Niles.

Participants will learn the basics of oil painting by creating a still life with Sue Senvissky of Trumbull Art Gallery. No experience is necessary. All supplies will be provided. Registration is required at 330-652-1704, ext. 3.

VENDOR EVENT: The first annual Mushroom and Maraschino Cherry vendor event will be held noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Art on the Park in Warren , 180 North Park Ave,m The event is free to the public.

KIDS CLUB: McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will hold Kids’ Club 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the McKinley Birthplace Home. Participants will learn about surface tension, mixture and to create their own lava lamp. Registration needed at 330-652-1704x, ext 4.
