Black History Month events set in the Valley

BLACK HISTORY MONTH: The American Association of University Women (AAUW) of Trumbull County will meet 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Trumbull County Veterans Service Office, 253 E. Market St., Warren. The speaker will be Cheryl Saffold, former Warren City councilwoman, discussing why Black History Month is celebrated.

Members are asked to bring a sack lunch. Program begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by business. Call Linda Baer Bigley at 724-691-7384 for information.

KICKOFF EVENT: A citywide Black History Month event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Grace AME Church, 137 Main Ave. SW, Warren.

EVENT AT YSU: An African Marketplace will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Chestnut Run in Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University.

MEN WHO COOK: The sixth annual Men Who Cook will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Howland Middle School. The event is a fundraiser to advance the values and adventures of Scouting in Howland. The public can sample recipes prepared by “Celebrity Chefs” from the community. Advance tickets are $20 per person. Tickets can be purchased from the Howland Community Church office and any Boy Scout Troop 28 member or leader.

OPEN HOUSE: Washington Square Health Care, 202 Washington St. NW, Warren, will hold an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday with comprehensive rehabilitation program sessions to support recovery and well-being. Services include physical, occupational and speech therapy. The event will include free giveaways, raffle baskets and light refreshments.
