Group giving out warm clothes for kids

WINTER ITEMS FOR YOUTH: Warren Brothers of the Hammer will host a youth winter clothing giveaway 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at 1137 Main Ave., Warren. Children will receive socks, hats and gloves. There will be free food, activities and community resources. For information call 330-394-6270.

TOYS FOR TOTS: New, unwrapped toy(s) for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program will be presented 5 p.m. today at the Warren city council meeting. The objective of Toys for Tots is to help less fortunate children in the community experience the joy of Christmas and to play an active role in the development of children.

CHRISTMAS LANTERN FESTIVAL: A Christmas Lantern Festival with the Conaways is 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at 3234 state Route 534, Southington. This is the first Christmas lantern festival, which includes a light display, decorating lanterns and visits with Santa Claus and the elves. There will be hot cocoa or coffee and treats. Lanterns will be provided for a donation of $10.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Denise Marie Flaherty Foundation, which helps families in Ohio struggling with the financial burdens of battling cancer. The event is rain or shine.

CRAFT SHOW: The Women’s Guild of St. William Parish will hold their annual Christmas Craft Show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Ethnic foods and take-out will be available.

SPEECH COMPETITION: Toastmasters International 408 will have a speech competition 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. Monday at 8381 Market St., Boardman. Several of the members will present speeches from different categories. There will be snacks and refreshments. The event is free.

GIFT WRAPPING: McKinley Memorial Library presents a gift wrapping party 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 21.

Niles Key Club volunteers will be available to wrap holiday gifts at the library. You are also welcome to wrap your own gifts using the paper, ribbon, bows, gift tags, scissors and tape provided (while supplies last). Feel free to bring wrapping supplies to use or share. The library is not responsible for lost or broken items.
