Santa to help Falls celebrate holidays

CHRISTMAS IN THE FALLS: The Newton Falls Ministerial Association and Newton Falls Area Chamber of Commerce will present Christmas in the Falls 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday in downtown Newton Falls. Among the featured events will be a parade, musical entertainment, family activities, a tree-lighting ceremony, Santa and Mrs. Claus, the Grinch, a live nativity and horse-drawn carriage rides.

TOY COLLECTION: The McKinley Memorial Library is partnering with Niles Community Services for a holiday toy drive through Dec. 7. Toys, puzzles and books for children to age 13 will be collected at the library and Niles Community Services on Vienna Avenue. Items need to be new, unopened and unwrapped.

FOOD FOR FINES: The Girard Free Library is offering Food for Fines through Tuesday where patrons who may have fines on materials can have them forgiven and removed for up to $25 with donations of two nonperishable food items for the Emmanuel Care Center in Girard. The offer does not apply to materials from other CLEVNET libraries.

CENTER DONATIONS: The Emmanuel Care Center in Girard is accepting applications for Christmas gift cards for toys and other items for children through Dec. 6. Families who are registered at the center can call 330-545-4301 to register their child up to age 12. Families can suggest gift ideas for the children. Donations are needed by Dec. 11. Families will be able to pick up items 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 17 and Dec. 18.

SANTA VISIT: The Girard Free Library will have Santa Claus and the Grinch visit at 6 p.m. Dec. 2. Various activities for children, including cookie decorating, will take place.

COUNTRY CHRISTMAS: A Country Christmas will be presented 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Fowler Center, Youngstown Kingsville Road. Various locations and businesses will be participating. The event will include handcrafted items and artisan goods as well as food offerings. Vendors can get an application at the Fowler General Store or call 234-244-8235.

SOCIETY PROGRAM: The Braceville Historical Society will host a holiday open house 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the township hall. Guests can see displays of local historical memorabilia. Refreshments will be served.
