CANDIDATES NIGHT: The Trumbull Township Association will host a Meet the Candidates forum at 5:30 p.m. today at the Southington local schools cafetorium, 2482 state Route 534. Candidates seeking election Nov. 5 have been invited. The event is open to the public and the association membership.
S’MORES UNDER THE STARS: Trumbull County MetroParks is hosting a S’Mores Under the Stars 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the park office, 3983 North River Road NE, Warren. There will be s’mores and stories by the campfire, and fire engine fun with the Howland Fire Department. For information, call Zachary Svette, executive director, at 330-675-3072.
MUSIC IN THE ALLEY: Music in the Alley will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Emilia’s Sole Alleata, 42 W. Broad St., Newton Falls. Performing are Logan Clonch and Jake Parks. The event is free.
NEEDLES, HOOKS AND BOOKS: McKinley Memorial Library is offering Needles, Hooks and Books 2 to 4 p.m. Friday. Attendees can bring their knitting, crocheting or sewing projects to the library on the first Friday of every month and enjoy spending time with other fiber artists. Lessons will not be provided.
CIVIL WAR PROGRAM: Center Brook Manor, 8745 state Route 45, south of Bloomfield Center, is hosting a candlelight Civil War hospital tour 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Participants will visit a theatrical surgical room with surgery in progress, the recovery rooms with an apothecary and U.S. sanitary commission, a sewing room where gowns for the wounded are made and a Civil War embalming area and funeral parlor. The tours are every 30 minutes and require advanced reservations at www.centerbrook.manor.com/ events. Tickets are $13.50 each. Tickets are required for the candlelight hospital tour. Presale is encouraged as group size is limited and some spots are all sold out. Saturday during the day, there will be an open house 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., but no tours will take place. PROBATE PRACTICE SEMINAR: Judge James A. Fredericka will host the 43rd Probate Practice Seminar 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Robins Theatre, 160 E. Market St., Warren. The Trumbull County Probate Court and the Trumbull County Bar Association sponsor the seminar, which will provide continuing education credits to attorneys, including professional conduct.
Two of the featured speakers are Ohio Supreme Court Justice R. Patrick DeWine, who will speak on Professional Ideals for Ohio Lawyers and Judges, and Judge James T.
