The seeing eye

WOMEN’S EQUALITY DAY: Women’s Equality Day celebration will be noon today at the Women’s Park, 321 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren. The anniversary event will mark 104 years since the 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote. The event is free. Dr Fareedah Goodwin Capers will be the guest speaker discussing women in medicine and what women have had to face in the field of medicine.

All generations of health care providers are welcome. Refreshments will follow at the Upton House. There is also a window display at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library showcasing the history of the day and also the women’s suffrage movement.

FARMERS MARKET: The Warren Farmers Market will be 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Sept. 24 at North Park Commons, 347 N. Park Ave., Warren. The market will feature area vendors selling fresh locally grown produce and a variety of homemade and handmade products

GUEST SPEAKER: Talking with Terry Pluto will be 6 p.m. Thursday at the McKinley Memorial Museum auditorium in Niles. Pluto, a sports columnist for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, has won more than 50 state and local writing awards, has been inducted into the Cleveland Journalism Hall of Fame, and has written more than 30 books, including “The Curse of Rocky Colavito” and “The Guy with the Sign.” The event is free.

SUFFRAGE CELEBRATION: Trumbull County leadership is calling all women citywide to a free Women’s Suffrage Celebration 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at 220 W. Market St., Warren. There will be team building exercises and appetizers and groups will create their own projects. For more information, contact Lindy Lucas, 330-720-9036.

SOCIETY POT-LUCK: The Champion Historical Society meeting and pot-luck picnic is 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Clarence Darrow Metro Park, 483 Educational Highway NW. The featured program will be presented by Champion High School graduate Gary Moss, who is a Clarence Darrow historian. He and his wife, Donna, are owners of the Clarence Darrow Octagon House in Kinsman. New members and interested parties are encouraged to attend.

Everyone is asked to bring a lawn chair, a dish to share and their own table service.

DEER SEASON: The Trumbull County MetroParks deer season lottery will be 10 a.m. Sept. 11 at the park office in Howland, Hunters do not have to attend in person. All permits are due by 4 p.m. Friday and can be dropped off at the park office. For hunting regulations, visit trumbullmetroparks.org and hunting areas.
