Warren Township presents event for residents

COMMUNITY DAY: Warren Township trustees will present a Community Day noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at LaBrae Little Vikings Field on West Market Street. The event includes a bounce house, water board fire activity, smoke house, activities and games, food and refreshments.

FALL MARKET: The Southington fall market will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at Monument Park next to the Chalker Building. The event will take place rain or shine and is being sponsored by the Southington Community Trust. There will be makers, bakers, a farmers market and a flea market.

NAACP TO MEET: The NAACP will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday at 1230 Palmyra Road, Warren, where there will be an election of the nominating committee. The next meeting will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 15 and Nov. 19 will be the election of new officers. For information, call 330-469-3247.

AUTUMN IN THE FALLS: The Autumn in the Falls outdoor craft and vendors show will be 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday on West Broad Street. The event is coordinated by the Newton Falls Area Commerce Association. The historic downtown district will be blocked off to allow for pedestrian traffic only to accommodate vendors, including crafts, collectibles and antiques.

STORYTIME RETURNS: Storytime at the Chalker Building will be 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Chalker Building. Children will take part in a story reading, crafts, snacks and receive a book to take home. A parent or guardian must stay. The event is at 11 a.m. the fourth Saturday of each month.

TALK TO A TRUSTEE: Brookfield Township will host Talk with a Trustee 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the lot of Scotty’s Express Mart, 7045 Warren Sharon Road.

EQUALITY DAY: A Women’s Equality Day celebrating 102 years of women voting will be 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Charbenay’s on the River, 220 W. Market St., Warren.

RUMMAGE SALE: St. Robert Church of Cortland, 4659 Niles-Cortland, will have a rummage sale 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 30 and 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 1, which is $2 per bag day or half off larger items.

REUNION SET: The original Local 1375 reunion will be 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at 684 N. Park Ave., Warren. The event will mark the 27 years since the lockout and 10 years since the plant closed. SOAR Retiree Group will supply the meats. Those attending are asked to take a covered dish.

FRIENDS OF THE POOR WALK: The St. Vincent de Paul Chapter of Trumbull County’s first Friends of the Poor Walk will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Perkins Park. The event is expected to draw between 150 and 200 walkers to raise awareness for the growing number of individuals and families experiencing food and financial insecurity in Trumbull County.

WALKING STICKS: Mosquito Lake State Park will offer programs this weekend. An invasive species walking sticks program will be 6 p.m. today at the amphitheater where participants will learn about invasive species while making a walking stick for night hikes. “Ghosts of Mosquito Lake” will be 7 p.m. today at the amphitheater with a program on “ghosts” that roam the shores of the lake. “Cook Your Catch” will be 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the north marina parking lot, where the Division of Wildlife and Mosquito Lake are teaming up to bring a three-part event to learn to fish, how to fillet it and go over classic recipes.

Halloween bash events are being planned for Saturday and Oct. 1, sponsored by the Friends of Mosquito Lake State Park. Both days will include natural activities, pumpkin carving, free hay rides and basket raffles. All activities are open to the public except the trick or treat event.
