Event highlights Gold Star Families

FOWLER MARKER DEDICATION: Fowler Township and the Cleveland District of the Garden Club of Ohio will take part in the Fowler Township Gold Star Families memorial marker dedication 2 p.m. today at the center green, state Routes 193 and 305. Refreshments will follow.

COMMUNITY PANTRY: Churchill United Methodist Church will host a church pantry 10 a.m. to noon Friday serving Liberty residents and Liberty school district families. Those needing items are asked to take identification and their own boxes. For information, call 330-759-0118.

SCRAP DRIVE: Boy Scout Troop 20 of Lordstown is hosting an ongoing scrap drive of appliances, mowers, scrap autos, batteries and all metal scraps. Free pickup is available if items are placed outside the house by calling 330-219-1368.

FRIENDLY SQUARES: The Friendly Squares Dance Club will host its monthly square dance 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St., Niles. Gene Hammond will be the caller. Dress is casual, and hot dogs will be served. For information, call 330-506-3370.

MEDICINE WHEEL: Unity Spiritual Centre, 1226 Naylor Lloyd Road in Liberty will host a medicine wheel ceremony 12:30 p.m. July 10. The ceremony will be facilitated by Kimberly Ford and is open to the public. The medicine wheel is a sacred stone circle where people gather in ceremony giving offerings and blessings. FUNDRAISER: The Cortland Masonic Lodge will host a charity fundraiser 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the lodge, 3263 Everett Hull Road, with proceeds from the event to benefit Scout Troop and Crew 4025 and their service projects and camping trips. Each month, the lodge hosts a benefit event with 100 percent of the proceeds to be donated to a local charity or needy individual.

TRACK MEET: The Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention will host a summer track meet 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Warren G. Harding track and field complex off Elm Road in Warren. Children and families from Trumbull County are encouraged to participate. Cost is $10 per child. Registration information is available at www.Eventbrite.com. The event features a track and field meet for children ages 4 to 14. Track and field teams from McDonald High School and Warren G. Harding High School are assisting with the event.
