Food contest set for Monday

VIENNA HOLDS CHILI COOKOFF; The Vienna Neighborhood Watch will hold a chili cookoff from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Vienna Fire Station, state Route 193. The event will be dine-in or take-out.

SEEK NOMINATIONS: The Warren City Schools Foundation’s Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame is currently seeking nominations for the Class of 2022. Outstanding graduates will be inducted during the 29th annual ceremony in May 2022. Honorees are those graduates who have made significant contributions in their fields. A nominee must be a graduate of one of three Warren public high schools: Warren High School, Warren G. Harding or Warren Western Reserve. The first class of the Hall of Fame was inducted in May 1993. Nomination forms are available at the board of education offices or at Warren City Schools website at www.warrencityschools.org under Alumni Hall of Fame. Deadline for nominations is Nov. 1. FALL FESTIVAL: The Liberty Township Fall Festival will be 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 17 at Churchill Park, Belmont Avenue. Event includes trunk or treat, face painting, bounce house and refreshments.

CRIME AUTHOR: The Girard Free Library will host true crime writer Jane Ann Turzillo 6 p.m. Thursday. She will tell of Ohio’s share of wicked women in history. Turzillo is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Mystery Women of America. She will have books to sell and sign. Program registration is required at 330-545-2508. Masks are strongly encouraged.

WALK FOR AWARENESS: Stomp Out Stigma Walk will be held 1 p,m. Oct. 17 at Harding Park in Hubbard. Registration is at noon. There will be a basket raffle. The event is designed to raise awareness and prevention of suicide with proceeds to benefit the Trumbull County LOSS.

AWL FUNDRAISER: The Animal Welfare League will hold a designer purse bingo fundraiser 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday at Leo’s Ristorante, 7042 E. Market St., Howland. Proceeds will benefit the league.

BUILDING CLOSED: The Trumbull County Administration building, 160 High St. NW, Warren, will be closed on Tuesday for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning replacement.
