Warren event offering help for homeless veterans
STAND DOWN DAY: The Trumbull County Homeless Veteran Stand Down Day will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Moose Lodge Pavilion, 674 Main Ave. SW, Warren. Veterans may bring dog tags, military discharge or VA identification along with photo identification. Other activities will include haircuts, comfort items, clothing, veteran services, counseling and food. The event will help homeless and at-risk veterans. The event is sponsored by the Trumbull County At Risk Veterans Inc., Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary 11 and Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary 1090.
Also planned is the Laying of the Roses ceremony at noon Friday at Courthouse Square in Warren.
HISTORICAL PROGRAM: The Howland Historical Society will host a fall program 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Howland Community Church north hall. Guest speaker is Christine Novicky, president of the Vienna Historical Society, who will speak on “The Ins and Outs of Cemetery Restoration” and introduce the Find A Grave website. Those attending are asked to wear a mask. The next open house of the Yellow House is set 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 19.
RALLY FOR RECOVERY: The Alliance for Substance Abuse and Prevention will host a Rally for Recovery 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Eastwood Field in Niles. SOCIETY TO MEET: The Trumbull County Genealogical Society will meet 10 a.m. Tuesday at the computer room at the Warren SCOPE Center, 375 N. Park Ave., Warren. RAVENNA BALLOON A-FAIR: The Ravenna Balloon A-Fair will be Thursday to Sept. 19 with a children’s parade at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in downtown Ravenna. There will be a concert 7 p.m. Friday at Sunbeau Valley Farms. On Saturday, activities will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Ravenna and include a Jeep show and cruise, craft booths and live entertainment, with balloons lifting off 5:30 p.m. and fireworks at dusk at Sunbeau. Admission is $5 with children 12 and under admitted free.
LYRIC CENTER OPENS: The Liberty Youth Recreation and Impact Center (LYRIC), Churchill Road, at the former Liberty High School location, is open starting 10 a.m. every Tuesday for various free recreational activities. There will be indoor bocce, pickleball, cornhole, bingo, card games and other activities.
ARCHERY OFFERED: The Hubbard Conservation Club, 1760 Wick Campbell Road, will offer a 3D archery shoot today with registration from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Adults are $10 and youth age 17 and under are $5. For information, call Tim at 330-301-2482.
