World War I hospital featured

SOCIETY HOSTS PROGRAM: The Howland Historical Society will host a virtual Zoom program 7 p.m. today. The program is “Youngstown’s Base Hospital 1918-1919” by Cassie Nespor. During World War I, the United States aided the allies’ fight by setting base hospitals in Europe. Base Hospital 31 was organized in Youngstown in the beginning of 1917. KINSMAN FUNDRAISER: The Friends of Kinsman is holding a fundraiser in November with a Thanksgiving pie sale. All pies will be homemade by members of the committee and friends. Orders for pies, which are $12 and $14, are available at the friends’ website and need to be in by Wednesday. Pickup will be 3 to 5 p.m. Nov. 25 at the Kinsman Township administration building. Trustee Fred Stahl’s business, Stahl Printing, is a dropoff location for orders.
