Local departments holding food drive

SAFETY FORCES COLLECT ITEMS: The Bazetta, Niles and Howland police departments, Howland Fire Department and Ohio State Highway Patrol will team up 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday for a “Can the Cruiser” food drive.

The food drive will be held at three locations across Trumbull County and will help stock four local food pantries.

Bazetta police and the Highway Patrol will be at the Walmart on Millennium Boulevard, Bazetta, with all proceeds collected to be donated to Cortland Area Cares.

Howland police and fire will be at the East Market Street Giant Eagle in Howland. The Howland Fire Department will hold its annual “Fill the Pot” campaign at the same time. All proceeds collected will be donated to the Bolindale Christian Church and Howland Community Church food banks.

Niles police will be at the Sparkle Market on North Main Street, Cortland. All proceeds collected will be donated to Niles Community Services. Niles Community Services serves Niles, Weathersfield and Mcdonald.

RAFFLE SET: The Healthy Hearts and Paws Project’s 300 Reverse Raffle will be held Saturday at Tiffany’s Banquet Center in Brookfield. Tickets are $100 each for the event, but all of the money raised will go to help the organization which helps dogs.

Tickets can be purchased online at Healthy Hearts and Paws Project. People don’t have to be present at the event to win.
