Food distribution coming to Niles’ Eastwood Field
The seeing eye
SECOND HARVEST PANTRY: The Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley will bring its traveling food pantry to the Eastwood Field, 5555 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles, today. The food distribution will begin 11 a.m. Participants are asked not to arrive before 10 a.m. and to park in the lot immediately in front of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers box office. Drivers then will be directed into the distribution line.
In order to maintain the health of everyone involved, this will be a zero-contact distribution. Recipients’ trunks must be open and clear of all other belongings. Windows must be rolled up. Recipients are not to exit their vehicles for any reason. Because the demand is so great, this distribution will be limited to one family per car, no exceptions. The distribution will continue as long as supplies permit.
The Traveling Food Pantry is a program designed to address the surge in need for food assistance for families who are struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
BLOOD DRIVE: Braceville United Methodist Church, 589 Park Road SW, will host a Red Cross blood drive 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Masks are required and will be provided if needed.
