PROJECT BACKPACK: The National Youth Advocate Program is hosting the second annual Project Backpack, a monthlong collection of school supplies to help foster youth. Items needed are personal protective equipment, hand sanitizer, Lysol and Clorox wipes, tissues, pencils, pens, erasers, backpacks, colored pencils, crayons, notebooks, binders, tape, highlighters, markers, calculators, scissors and glue.

NYAP also will provide Project Backpack-Parent Pack for foster parents to assist with homework. Items needed are poster boards, tri-fold boards, tape, ink cartridges, coffee mugs, folders and pull-ups.

Project Backpack is a communitywide effort to help more than 100 foster kids this school year. Call 330-633-4187 before dropping off donations. Drop-off locations are 5423 Mahoning Ave., Suite H, Youngstown, and 30 Northwest Ave., Suite 120 Building A, Tallmadge, or can be made through NYAP’s Amazon Wishlist.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH GROUP TO MEET: The Roosevelt Area Neighborhood Watch group will host a neighborhood meeting 4:30 p.m. today in the backyard at 736 Roosevelt St., Warren.

Bring a lawn chair and a mask; social distancing will be practiced.

The meeting will be canceled if Trumbull County goes back to Level 3 prior to the meeting or if it rains.

OPEN HOUSE: The Mineral Ridge Historical Society’s Moss Ancestral Home open house will be 1 to 4 p.m. today at 1499 Burnett St., Mineral Ridge.

PORTRAIT SESSIONS: The Autism Society of the Mahoning Valley will hold the annual family portraits sessions for families with children with disabilities. The scheduled sessions are 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 19 at the Kinsman House, 303 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren. Participants will have the choice of an indoor or outdoor setting, depending on the weather.
