FILL THE CRUISER: Howland Township will hold a Protect N Shred and Fill the Cruiser Day 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Howland SCOPE Center. Residents may bring up to five large garbage bags of paper to be shredded. No office or commercial shredding will be accepted. The shredding is held in conjunction with the police department holding a fill the cruiser day. Non-perishable food items will be collected for the Bolindale Food Pantry. Those attending are being asked to stay in their vehivle and someone will remove the items for shredding and fill the cruiser.

SCRAP TIRE COLLECTION: Newton Township will hold its annual scrap tire collection 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the township administration building, 4410 Newton Falls Bailey Road. This is a free service open to Newton Township residents and is subsidized by a grant administered through the Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District. Identification is required for proof of residency. There is a limit of eight tires per household and all tires must be clean. No tires on rims or large truck or tractor tires will be accepted. Tires will only be collected at the event. The annual collection of scrap and debris has been postponed with no date currently rescheduled at this time.
