Discard unused medications
OPERATION MEDICINE CABINET: The Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention and the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office will collect and destroy unneeded prescription drugs 9 a.m. to noon Saturday as part of “Operation: Empty Medicine Cabinet.”
The officers will accept unused or expired drugs in original containers at the Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management facilities, 5138 Enterprise Drive in Warren, off Parkman Road.
ASAP is sponsoring the program to limit the misuse of drugs by children and teens who often get the drugs from their family’s medicine cabinets.
Medications accepted include pills, capsules, patches, gels, powders, ointments, syrups, vitamins, inhalers and pet meds. Drugs must be in original containers or in sealed plastic bags.
No needles, syringes, lancets, thermometers, IV bags, aerosol cans, hydrogen peroxide, empty containers or illegal drugs will be accepted.
