Aviation museum cancels Aug. 2 event

WARREN — The Ernie Hall Aviation Museum wonát host its annual Wings ‘n’ Wheels event this summer.

The board decided to cancel the 2020 event on Aug. 2 due to COVID-19 concerns.

“We take the health and safety of our volunteers, vendors, pilots, and patrons very seriously,” said Steve Lewis, treasurer.

“On a more positive note, we announce that the 2021 Wings event will be held Aug. 1, 2021.”

The board recently presented checks for $3,000 to representatives from both Northeast Ohio Adoption Services and the Animal Welfare League. Both NOAS and AWL volunteers spend many hours working and supporting the annual Wings àn Wheels event held each August.

“The Wings event requires over 100 volunteers to make it a success,” Lewis explained.

âBoth NOAS and AWL have been there for us every year to help make sure things run smoothly. It is wonderful that non-profits can collaborate to help one another with their projects,ã he said. âThe Wings event is the primary fund raiser to support the ongoing operation of the museum. It seems only appropriate that we share that success financially with our partners.ã

The event has evolved into much more than just a fundraiser for the museum, said Brian Hoopes, board chairman.

âWe believe it has become the best community event held in Trumbull County and the attendance clearly illustrates that opinion. We canát wait to welcome thousands through our gates once again.ã
