GROWLER RACE: Homes and Hops will hold its first annual 5k Growler Race, with 100 percent of all proceeds going to benefit the OH WOW! Roger and Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science and Technology in Youngstown. Adapting to the current situation during the COVID crisis, the race will be held virtually with participants, allowing participants to complete their 5K between now and June 28. Added incentive for race participants is a collaboration with local breweries — Birdfish Brewing in Columbiana, Biker Brewhouse in Austintown, Noble Creature in Youngstown and Modern Methods in Warren — which will allow participants over the age of 21 to redeem one beer at a participating brewery of their choice. During the Covid-19 pandemic, OH WOW! has been closed to the public but has reached over 300,000 people across all social media platforms with WOWtastic! projects and experiments that can be performed in the comfort of your own home. Race organizers have a goal of 300 participants. Each participant will receive a 5K training guide for beginners, a medal, a shirt and the free beverage from a participating brewery. Proof of participation will be managed via submission of race times to Second Sole in Boardman. For information visit https://runsignup.com/Race/OH/Youngstown/HomesandHopsVirtual5K
