Meetings canceled for Vietnam vets group through July
TRUMBULL CHAPTER ON HIATUS: Trumbull County Chapter 1115 Vietnam Veterans Association has canceled its meetings through July.
SERVICES CANCELED: Leavittsburg will not hold the community’s annual Memorial Day services due to the coronavirus outbreak.
EXPRESS CARE OFFERS TESTING: Champion Med Express Care, 4681 Mahoning Ave. NW, Champion, an acute care, walk-in clinic, is testing for COVID-19 and also will begin conducting antibody testing Monday.
If an individual is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, the person should call 330-847-1132 to schedule a telemedicine / virtual visit.
Once evaluated and a test is deemed necessary, an appointment will be made to receive the swab test. Insurance is accepted for testing. Results will be received in 48 to 72 hours.
COVID-19 antibody testing requires no appointment and Champion Med Express Care welcomes all individuals interested in the antibody test to walk into the clinic 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays.
The antibody test is a blood-drawn test conducted onsite through the clinic lab. The result report will take approximately two to three days. Insurance is accepted for testing.
SOIL SAMPLING AVAILABLE: The Mahoning County Extension Office is accepting soil samples for testing to help ensure healthy soils for summer gardens and plants.
Soil samples can be dropped off at the Mahoning County Extension Office, 490 S. Broad St., Canfield. Place all samples in the marked crate at the back door of the office. Samples should be in a plastic bag with your name.
To collect a sample, take 10 to 15 cores at 8 inches deep from random locations throughout your testing site. Mix these cores together and submit one cup of soil as the sample.
The cost of testing is $20 per sample, and payment should be provided in an envelope with either check or exact change. Envelopes can be slid between the back doors into the receiving bin inside, which will be checked regularly by OSU Extension. Include your name, address, phone number and email in the envelope, or fill out the submission form found at go.osu.edu/soiltestmaho.
