EDITOR’S NOTE: With the outbreak of the coronavirus, many religion events, services and other happenings may be canceled or postponed.

PALMS DISTRIBUTION: Many area churches are distributing palms by drive-through pickup this weekend for Palm Sunday.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Niles, 381 Robbins Ave., will hand out blessed palms and Easter candles 2 to 4 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to noon Sunday.

St. Luke Church, 5235 South Ave., Boardman, will do so 4:30 p.m. today and and Sunday morning at church.

St. Christine Church, 3165 S. Schenley Ave, Youngstown, will hand out palms 4 to 7 p.m. today at the church, and Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 4490 Norquest Ave., Austintown, will do so noon to 2 p.m. Sunday.

SS. Cyril and Methodius Church, 185 Laird Ave NE, Warren, will distribute palms from 4 to 5 p.m. today and at St. James Church, 2532 Burton St. SE, Warren, from 11 a.m. to noon Sunday.

SUNDAY MASS LIVESTREAMED: The Rev. Leo Wherlin and the Rev. Simon Mino will celebrate Mass livestreamed 9 a.m. each Sunday on WFMJ-21.

All proceeds WFMJ raises will go to the Mahoning County Food Bank and Catholic Charities for those in need at this time.

CHURCH SERVICE: First Presbyterian Church of Warren will livestream on Facebook Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m.; Good Friday at noon and 3 p.m.; and Easter service at 10 a.m. April 12.

ONLINE WORSHIP: Second Baptist Church A House of Hope, 1510 Main Ave., Warren, is holding online worship with Facebook and YouTube with worship at 10:15 a.m. Sunday and LifeBuilders Bible Study at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

BLESSING OF BASKETS: SS. Cyril and Methodius Church, 185 Laird Ave., Warren, will hold Blessing of Food baskets 1 to 2 p.m. April 11 in the church parking lot.

People are to place their baskets on the roofs of their vehicles and a pastor or deacon will come around and bless them with holy water.

MEN’S GROUP POSTPONED: The Men of Faith breakfast scheduled for today has been postponed to 9 a.m. May 2 at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport in Vienna.

URSULINE SISTERS CANCELS EVENTS: The Ursuline Sisters and Ursuline Ministries have established protocols with stakeholders in light of the worldwide coronavirus outbreak. All education and wellness classes and programs and are limiting outside visitors until further notice.

EVENT CANCELED: The Grand Valley Interfaith Services Cross Walk and Good Friday service on Friday in Orwell has been canceled.

BISHOPS CANCEL MASSES: The Bishops of Ohio have suspend all publicly celebrated Masses and liturgies through the end of the month.

The bishops of Ohio dispense the Catholic faithful who reside in their respective diocese and all other Catholics in Ohio from the obligation of attending Sunday Mass.

SERVICES ONLINE: Unity Spiritual Centre, Liberty, will hold 11 a.m. Sunday services online only. They may be watched through Unity Centre Facebook page or online on the center’s website, unitycen tre.org. All services will be livestreamed on Sunday mornings at 11 a.m. Meet-me-online prayer is now taking place Monday through Friday at 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 pm. The dial up number is 605-475-4871 and the code is 574212#.

The online prayer vigil also is available at unityprayervigil.org. After the service for those who would like to have some fellowship, an online video chat room will be held for an hour.

MEN’S RALLY IN VALLEY: The annual Men’s Rally in the Valley is scheduled to have the theme “Jesus Our Only Hope.”

Event organizers will announce plans for the rally since it had been scheduled for April 25 at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown. Ohio is under a stay-at-home order through the end of the month.

LIVESTREAM: West Mecca Baptist Church will livestream its 10:30 a.m. Sunday services on Facebook.

FOOD DISTRIBUTION: The Bristolville United Methodist Church will be giving out bagged lunches for students in need 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday to Friday at the church as well as at the baseball fields in the center of Farmington.

INTERFAITH EVENT CANCELED: The 54th annual Niles Interfaith Banquet originally scheduled for April 19 has been canceled.

ISRAEL TRIP: The Church at Warren in Bazetta is planning a “Best of Israel” trip Sept. 8 to 17. The 10-day tour includes visits to Sea of Galilee, Israel, Jerusalem, Holocaust Museum and Bethlehem.
