KINDERGARTEN TRANSITION: Families with children entering kindergarten in 2020 are invited to attend the sixth annual Trumbull County Kindergarten Transition Fair 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Eastwood Mall center court in Niles. More than 35 community agencies and businesses, along with 17 school districts, have joined together to present the free event open to all Trumbull County children who will be entering kindergarten in the fall of 2020 and their families. Children will receive a free “Clifford” book and other giveaways, while supplies last. Organized by the Trumbull County Kindergarten Transition Committee, the purpose of the fair is to help children and families prepare for kindergarten. Families will visit 10 interactive learning stations designed to educate parents about how to teach their children the skills necessary for school success. Trumbull County schools will be present to meet prospective students, share information about kindergarten registration, and begin relationship building with families prior to starting school. HISTORY LECTURE: The history of Warren and Trumbull County in vintage photographs will be presented 2 p.m. Saturday at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. Meghan Reed and Josh Nativio, authors of the new book, “Images of America: Warren,” will show many vintage photographs of old Warren buildings, streets and neighborhoods. RACE FOR THE CURE: The Trumbull County Area Beagle Club will hold a Race for the Cure fundraiser Saturday and Feb. 2 at Hubbard Conservation Club, 1760 Wick Campbell Road. The event will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Registration is 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 1 and 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 2. There will be raffles and other events. FARM BUREAU EVENT: The Northeast Counties Farm Bureau, serving Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake and Trumbull County farm bureaus, will host its 2020 membership kickoff with a drawing for a Yeti Tundra 45 and a pancakes breakfast, 8:30 a.m. Feb. 8, at the Grand Valley High School Auditeria, 111 Grand Valley Ave., Orwell. The program will highlight the value of Farm Bureau membership, accomplishments and involvement opportunities. Special guest, Dan Durheim, associate vice president, Sponsor Relations with Nationwide Insurance, will talk about the Farm Bureau / Nationwide Relationship.

Each attendee will receive a ticket for the drawing of a Yeti Tundar 45.

FIELD OF OPPORTUNITY: The Walnut Grove Field of Opportunity is a fully accessible 20-acre outdoor recreation facility in Canfield where all individuals of all abilities can feel safe to learn, play and relax. The second phase of the project was completed and includes an inclusive playground. The fourth annual Swing, Wine and Dine fundraiser to raise money for the facility improvements and operating expenses will be 5:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Maronite Center in Youngstown. There will be a live and silent auction, musical entertainment, wine tasting, food, basket raffle and children’s art gallery.
