MEN OF FAITH: The Men of Faith from across Trumbull County will come together 9 a.m. today at the 4 Star Diner banquet room, 168 N. Mecca St., Cortland. Guest speaker is Charles Jarvis, publisher of the Tribune Chronicle and The Vindicator. Music will be provided by the Golden Street Singers. The local group is a chapter of the Men of Faith of the Mahoning Valley, which has brought the men’s rally to the Covelli Centre for the past 10 years. CHRISTIANITY / BLACK EXPERIENCE: Christianity and the Black Experience will be 11:30 a.m. today at St. John’s Orthodox Church, 2220 Reeves Road, Warren. The three-part lecture series will feature Father Moses Berry of Ash Grove, Mo. Lecture schedule is Honoring a Shared Heritage at noon, Linking Ancient African Christianity to the African-American Experience at 2 p.m., questions and answers at 4 p.m., and great vespers with Father Moses at 6 p.m.

Berry is a speaker of African-American history and on issues of African-American spirituality and Orthodox Christian mission. He is the co-founder of the annual Afro American and Ancient Christianity conference.

The event is free.

CHRISTIAN ATHLETES: Fellowship of Christian Athletes Steel Valley will hold a FC Party Trumbull County 7 to 9 p.m. today at Champion Presbyterian Church, 4997 Mahoning Ave., for all Trumbull County FCA groups. A special parent meeting will be at 7 p.m. Call Don at 440-647-3457.

LIVE NATIVITY: Braceville Christian Church, 4387 Church St. SW, will hold its 10th annual living nativity 6 to 8 p.m. today and Sunday. The drive-thru scenes depict the first Christmas with actors and live animals. Refreshments will be served.

ADVENT PROGRAM: The Bazetta Christian Church drama ministry team will be holding Advent skits titled “The Gift Is You” to be performed each Sunday in Advent during the morning service at 9:30 a.m. The series of four skits is from the Advent Candle-lighting Collection on Reaching Out, written by Linda Allen and directed by Sherri Mayoros.

FUN DAY: First Presbyterian Church of Warren, Mahoning Avenue, will hold a Christmas Fun Day 11:15 a.m. Sunday.

78TH CHURCH ANNIVERSARY: Community Church of God in Christ, 310 Austin Ave., will celebrate the church’s 78th anniversary 4 p.m. Sunday. The theme is “A Journey of Faith.” Guest speaker is Dr. Bennie Hardin.

The men’s prayer breakfast will be held 10 a.m. today at the church with guest speaker Deacon James Eiland, who will speak on “Effectual Prayer of the Righteous Man.”

The church was first formed during a tent revival. Elder Eli Holan was inspired to hold tent services until a block building was built on Civitella Street, Warren. It became known as the Little Tabernacle Tent Church of God in Christ, also known as the Power House Church of God in Christ.

In 1974, the church moved to the current site on Austin Avenue. The church in 2014 was declared a historical landmark.

JOURNEY OF CHRISTMAS: North Bloomfield Assembly of God Church and Bloomfield United Methodist Church will present “Love Made a Way Journey of Christmas” event 6 p.m. Sunday at North Bloomfield Assembly.

SINGING BOWL MEDITATION: Unity Centre for Spiritual Living, 1226 Naylor Lloyd Road, Liberty, will hold a Singing Bowl Meditation 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The group meditation will be conducted by Maria and Calvin Wagner from the Center for Sound Therapy in Boardman. The meditation is free, but donations or love offerings will be accepted.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT: Girard Community Swingtime Band will hold a Christmas concert 6:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at Girard First Christian Church, 140 E. Broadway St.

LIFE OF CHRIST: St. John Lutheran Church, 5734 Mahoning Ave., Champion, will hold a program “What is Christmas all About” 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 14. There will be a variety of nativity scenes depicting the birth of Jesus. There also is a large nativity display.

HOLIDAY CONCERT: The Liberty Assembly Church, Belmont Avenue, will present the annual holiday concert 1 and 2:45 p.m. Dec. 15. The concert is free. Due to the many performers, there will be two performances. For information, call 330-759-6813.

CHRISTMAS MUSICAL: First Baptist Church of Niles, Church Street, will hold a Christmas musical 7 p.m. Dec. 14 and 15.

EVERLASTING LIGHT: Howland United Methodist Church, 730 Howland Wilson Road, will hold an “Everlasting Light” cantata 9:30 a.m. Dec. 15.

OLD-FASHIONED CHRISTMAS: Corner House Christian Church, 6954 Chestnut Ridge Road, Hubbard, will hold an Old Fashioned Christmas with a sing-along and judged chili contest 5:30 p.m. Dec. 15. Peanut butter is being collected for the Lifeline Missions Haiti Project.

BLUE CHRISTMAS: Lordstown Lutheran Church, 5615 Palmyra Road SW, Warren, will hold a special Blue Christmas and healing service 7 p.m. Dec. 18. Blue Christmas is a gentle, contemplative service for those who are carrying pain or loss during this season of celebration.

CANDYLAND: Vienna United Methodist Church, 4265 Warren Sharon Road, will hold a life-size Candyland 3:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, noon to 7 p.m. Dec. 14 and noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 15. There will be activities and a family photo booth. Admission is free.

INTERFAITH CHOIR: Simple Gifts Interfaith Choir is planning a performance with the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra for March 2020. The 80-voice choir will perform in collaboration with Singers Together and The Youngstown Connection for the YSO’s program titled “Spiritual Journey: The Road to Peace and Freedom,” featuring world-renowned tenor Lawrence Brownlee.

Simple Gifts Interfaith Choir is comprised of singers from Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana and Portage counties, as well as Mercer and Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania. All singers are welcome to participate.
