Hospital plans holiday event

CHRISTMAS AT HILLSIDE : Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital, 8747 Squires Lane NE, Howland, will host its “Christmas at Hillside” event 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. There will be Christmas tree, wreath and basket raffles as well as music, crafts, face painting and refreshements. There also will be a special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus at 3 p.m., who will arrive by firetruck.

Employees and community members have donated and decorated 23 Christmas trees and 31 wreaths and centerpieces on display throughout the hospital. All the trees and wreaths, along with other Christmas decor, will be up for raffle at the event. The raffle drawing for the baskets will take place 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the cafeteria at Hillside and the drawing for the trees and wreaths will take place 12:30 p.m. Dec. 27. Winners will be notified after the drawing takes place and do not need to be present during the drawings.

Raffle tickets for the Christmas trees and wreaths can be purchased in the main lobby at the receptionist desk and at the outpatient therapy registration desk, through Dec. 27 at $1 each or six for $5 or 13 for $10. Raffle tickets for all the baskets are now on sale through Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. in the cafeteria. All proceeds from this event will benefit the American Heart/American Stroke Association and the ALS Association. For information, call 330-841-9427.

SANTA’S WORKSHOP: The sixth annual Santa’s Workshop will be 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Brookfield Township gazebo and Brookfield United Methodist Church. Santa Claus will arrive at the gazebo by firetruck at 5 p.m. There will be games, hot chocolate, hay rides and crafts starting at 4 p.m.

SUTLIFF PROGRAM: The Sutliff Museum is releasing the Sutliff Museum Tours app, now available on all app stores. The app gives visitors the chance to delve more into the Sutliff Museum’s collection through the use of iPad kiosks throughout the museum or on visitors’ own digital devices. The project was made possible in part by the Ohio History Fund, a grant program of the Ohio History Connection. The Ohio History Fund is made possible by voluntary donations of state income tax refunds, sales of Ohio History “mastodon” license plates, and other donations. To celebrate the achievement and to learn more about the project, a launch party will be 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the museum located on the second floor of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library. GIRARD LIBRARY PROGRAM: Santa Claus will be at the Girard Free Library 6 p.m. Monday. There will be free pictures with Santa Claus, as well as crafts and a coloring table.
