Township to hold holiday event

RISTOL HOSTS LIGHTING: The Bristol Township annual holiday lighting will take place 6 p.m. Sunday at the center park. The event will include refreshments and musical performances at the town hall. Community members and township officials have decorated the park with holiday lights.

SANTALAND EVENT: The Niles Community Services will be hold the 33rd annual Santaland Brunch fundraiser 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Vernon’s Cafe in Niles. The event will include Santa and Mrs. Claus, elves, door prizes and raffles. Reservations are needed by Dec. 6 at 330-652-1381.

STEM PROGRAMS: OH WOW! The Roger and Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science and Technology in Youngstown will hold several programs this weekend with STEM Storytime 10 a.m. Saturday for ages 5 and under. There will be special programs for young explorers to work with the Inspire Works staff learning about stars and constellations.

Make Pocket Solar System noon to 2 p.m. Saturday for ages 4 and older. Hands-on activity to make a scale model of the distance between objects in the solar system. Free admission.

“So You Want to Build a Telescope” will be held 3 to 5 p.m Saturday at the Youngstown State University Ward Beecher Planetarium. The Mahoning Valley Astronomical Society will help people in deciding how to purchase a telescope.
