Purrfect Crime’ in Champion

ON STAGE: Champion High School Drama Club will present “The Purrfect Crime” 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the high school auditorium. Admission is adults $5 and students $3.

MRS. CLAUS’ CLOSET: West Farmington United Methodist Church, 220 W. College St., will hold its annual Mrs Claus closet 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The event will include a silent auction, craft demonstrations, games and light snacks. Admission is $4.

BITES AND BITS: The Bites and Bits of History will present “Volney Rogers and the Origins of the Mill Creek Park” noon Thursday. Speaker is Dr. Rick Shale, local historian and co-author of Historic Mill Creek Park. Discussion will be on how the banks of the small tributary of the Mahoning River was turned into a scenic gem and how one man with a vision made a difference. For information, call 330-743-2589.

ROTARY SIGN: Members of the Rotary Club of Champion gathered recently at the newly placed Champion Township sign located at the edge of the Kent State at Trumbull property. The replacement of the previous sign had been a goal of the club. Headed up by project leader John Hickey, the completion of the sign is the culmination of the many fundraising projects and work by the Rotarians and support by community members. There is a smaller sign at the Bristol Townline area off Mahoning Avenue. Mike Makes Signs designed and constructed the signs.

SOCIETY TO MEET: The Johnston Historical Society will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at the town hall.

CLUB EVENTS: Hubbard Conservatuion Club, Wick Campbell Road, will hold a deer hunting program Saturday. Call 330-261-5987.

TURKEY SHOOT: A free turkey shoot for children will be held at noon Saturday at 6874 Bushnell Campbell Road, Kinsman, for youth ages 13 and under.
