Howland lights up the gazebo to welcome holidays

TREE LIGHTING: The Howland Township annual tree-lighting festival will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the gazebo near the high school off East Market Street. The event will include ornament making, Elf on a Shelf, cookie decorating, refreshments and games. Scheduled performances include Warren Civic Chorus children’s choir at 4:15 p.m., Howland Middle School drumline at 4:45 p.m. and Santa lighting the town tree at 5:30 p.m.

GINGERBREAD WALK: Cortland Specialty shops have come together to hold their annual Gingerbread Walk, a holiday shop hop 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday throughout the city. There will be specials, pop-ups, refreshments, basket raffles, and Santa and Mrs. Claus along the way. Galleria will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the event day.

BARNHISEL HOUSE OPEN HOUSE: The Girard Barnhisel House will hold a holiday open house sponsored by the Girard Historical Society 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Additional open houses will be held 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 7, 8, 14 and 15. The 1850s home is on North State Street. The house is decorated for the holidays with memorabilia from Girard and the Western Reserve area. An old fashioned quilt is on display for raffle. The them this year at the home is music and clocks.
