Pumpkin party planned at Niles McKinley Library

HALLOWEEN PUMPKIN WALK: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will hold the second annual Halloween Party and Pumpkin Walk 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The event will include trick-or-treating, stories and other activities sponsored by local organizations and businesses. A pumpkin walk will be held outdoors on the memorial grounds, while spooky stories and activities will take place inside the library. Various groups, including the Niles Historical Society, will be taking part.

HELPING FAMILIES: The Emmanuel Care Center in Girard is taking signups for Thanksgiving help through Nov.15. Families who are registered at the center and wish to receive assistance must call the center at 330-545-4301. Thanksgiving food baskets will be available to pick up 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 26. Donations of food items for the baskets can be brought to the center by calling first. Food items needed are green beans, boxed mashed potatoes and canned cranberries.

RESIDENT RELEASES BOOK: McDonald resident William Gorman will release his second book with award-winning Crystal Lake Publishing on Oct. 31. The horror / suspense thriller, titled “Every Foul Spirit,” is a sequel to 2016’s “Blackwater Val” and follows the story of Katie Franklin, a “gifted” young psychic girl who finds herself in deadly peril as she works to stop the killer that stalks a small town, where the dead yet walk in shadows, all while trying to unravel and put to rest the supernatural events of her own past. The novel will be available from Amazon in paperback and Kindle formats, or on order from your favorite bookstore.

AUXILIARY HOLDS SALE: The Auxiliary of St. Joseph Warren Hospital is sponsoring a Books and Fun sale 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in the Warren Room.

HOMES OF YOUNGSTOWN: The Bites and Bits of History program will be noon Thursday at the Tyler History Center in Youngstown. The program is “Historic Homes of the Northside” with Marcia Levy, a local historian. For information, call 330-743-2589.

REPUBLICAN PARTY EVENT: The Trumbull County Republican Party will hold its monthly breakfast 9 a.m. Saturday at the Buckeye Club, 366 N. Park, Warren.
