Bar association presents awards
NILES — Saying he looks forward to his term as president of the Trumbull County Bar Association, Brian Kren helped outgoing president Beth Aurilio as they presented special recognition to association members, and also those who support the association.
The President’s Award, which recognizes an individual for outstanding achievements and accomplishments that have benefited the bar association, was presented to retired Judge Robert M. Platt from the Eastern District Court.
Platt has served as acting judge in the Trumbull County Courts for 22 years before being elected as judge for Trumbull County Court Eastern District in January 2013.
The Appreciation Awards, presented to non-attorneys in the community who provide outstanding service to the legal profession, were given to Patricia Gerin, executive director of the bar association, and Jeff Hovanic, baliff of Warren Municipal Court.
The 2019-2020 officers for the association are Brian Kren president; Marty Nosich, vice president / president-elect; Pamela Rintala, secretary; Patrick Wilson, treasurer; and Beth Aurilio, past president.
Trustees for 2019-2020 are Samuel Bluedorn, Michael Buzulencia, Brendan Keating, Richard Magill, Kevin Murphy and John Rossi.
Recognition was given to TCBA 50-year members Thomas Norton, Thomas Palmer, John Pogue, Thomas Swift and William Urban Jr.; 25-year members Jeffrey Davis, John Fowler, Patrick Parry, Kimberly Tomlinson, and Lisa Wallace; and 10-year member Robert Root.
The association was founded in 1879 by its first president, George M. Tuttle. It has grown to 332 members. Its offices were in the Trumbull County Courthouse until 1997 when it moved to Harmon Street in the lower level of the Trumbull County Law Library
