St. John festival set for Saturday

FREE EVENT: The St. John’s festival will be held 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the church grounds, 2220 Reeves Road, Warren. The free event will include ethnic food, church tours, bake sale, vendors, silent auction and live music and entertainment.

NUN RUN: The Nun Run is set for Oct. 5 at the Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road.

The Kids Run for those 10 and younger begins at 8:15 a.m.; the one-mile walk will start at 8:30 a.m.; and the 5K race begins at 9 a.m. The entry fee is $20 if received by Oct. 4 and $25 the day of the race. The entry fee must be received by Friday to guarantee a T-shirt. There is no entry fee for the kids run.

Packet pick-up and registration is at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 5 in the center’s auditorium.

BROOKFIELD HALL OF FAME: Brookfield Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame has three events planned to honor its inaugural Hall of Fame class. The inductees will meet in small groups with Brookfield High School students Friday and then be introduced to the public at the football game. An induction brunch is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Gentry in Hubbard.

YOUTH GATHERING: In preparation for the national “See-You-at-the-Pole” event First Baptist Church, 2640 S. Canal Street, Newton Falls, will be hosting a “Community Youth Gathering” on Sunday beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event will include games / activities, food and a devotion from Don James, area director for Fellowship of Christian Athletes. All youth are invited.

SIP AND SHOP: Continuing Healthcare at the Ridge, 3379 Main St., Mineral Ridge, will hold a Sip and Shop 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 28. Fifteen vendors wilt be on hand. Proceeds will benefit the Alzhiemer’s Association. RSVP to Melissa Marsh at 330-652-9901.

STEEL VALLEY MUSIC: The Animal Welfare League will hold a benefit Steel Valley Music program 5 p.m. Sept. 28 at Tiffany Manor in Brookfield. There will be live music.

OH WOW!: OH WOW! The Roger and Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science and Technology in Youngstown will hold “Hack It” from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday for ages 9 and older. Children will explore creativity and robotics with the Inspire Works staff. Call 330-744-5914 for information and registration.

STEM Storytime will be held 10 to 11 a.m. Sept. 28. Children 5 and younger will make maracas. Sound on the Move will be held noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 28 as exploring how sound is powerful enough to move things.

SQUARE DANCE: Crosstrailers Square Dance Club will hold a dance this coming Saturday at the John D. Emanuel Senior Center in Howland.
