Dog Days of Summer slated for CrossRoads

SOUTHINGTON EVENT: Wardens of the Trumbull County Pound, along with Voices of The Trumbull Pound Dogs, will present the Dog Days of Summer from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the CrossRoads Bar and Grill, 4887 state Route 305, Southington. Included is a 50/ 50 raffle, Chinese auction, music, food and drinks. All proceeds will benefit the Trumbull Pound dogs, vetting, raining and any special needs. Participants are asked to not bring their pets to this event.

ASSOCIATION TO MEET: The Southeast Side Community Association will meet 6 p.m. Thursday at the old St. James White Hall building, the corner of Willard and Milton avenues, Warren.

HERITAGE CLASS: An African-American Heritage Class will be held 6 p.m. today at the Warren Trumbull County Main Library. Participants will learn to trace family history using traditional and digitized resources, including the Freedmen’s Bureau, the African-American Heritage database, and the Unknown No Longer website. Those taking the class should be familiar with navigating a computer using a mouse. Registration is required for all classes. Call the Local History and Genealogy Center at the Main Library at (330) 399-8807 ext. 202 to sign up for classes at all locations.

READY FOR KINDERGARTEN: Kindergarten, Here I Come! for children entering kindergarten this fall will be held 1 p.m. today at the Howland Library Branch. Children will enjoy stories, music, and a craft. An informational session for parents is offered at the same time. Registration is required.

WATER CIRCUS: Circque Italia water circus will be held 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 1:30, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, at the Southern Park Mall under the tent, 7401 Market St. Tickets are $10 per person. Call 941-704-8572.

CAT SHELTER CAR SHOW: Small World Cat Rescue Shelter will hold its fourth annual benefit car show 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Avon Oaks Ballroom, 1401 N. State St., Girard. The event will include 50-50 raffle, food, Chinese auction, door prizes. Registration is $5. Cars, trucks and bikes are welcome, all makes and models.
