Festival starts this Wednesday

MOUNT CARMEL FESTIVAL: The annual Our Lady of Mount Carmel summer festival will be Wednesday to July 21 at the parish, 381 Robbins Ave., with food, rides, bocce tournament, games, musical entertainment and other family activities. Festival hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch and 5 to 11 p.m. The festival is known for its varied food that includes cheese twists, cheesepuffs, and red, potato, white and spinach pizzas. There will be a raffle with the grand prize choice of 2019 Cadillac XT5 or 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport or $25,000 cash, with the drawing 11 p.m. July 21.

EMERGENCY EDUCATION: Pet Emergency Education, LLC is presenting a certified Pet CPR, hosted by TLC Doggy Daycare, 137 North St. NW, Warren, 2 to 5 p.m. July 21. Registration fee is $69.95 with a full color, interactive e-book or $94.95 with an e-book and a printed book. Preregistration ends today. The class is designed to teach the average person how to administer emergency CPR and first aid to an animal until veterinary care can be ascertained. Sign up on Facebook at TLCDoggyDaycare.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY: Christmas in July, hosted by the Animal Welfare League and the Menagerie, will be held 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 21.

BLUEGRASS JAMBOREE: Mitch and Cindy’s Bluegrass Jamboree is scheduled for Thursday to Saturday at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds. The three-day celebration of bluegrass music, with 10 bands and a competition for local performers, includes camping hookups, food and merchandise vendors. All net proceeds will benefit ALS.

McDONALD PARK EVENTS: The McDonald summer park program will include Craft Day each Friday at noon through Aug. 9 at Woodland Park pavilion. Party in the Park will be held noon Thursday with music, dancing and a pizza celebration at the pavilion.

PUZZLE-SOLVING TIPS: McKinley Memorial Library will hold Tips For Solving Sudoku puzzles, 9:30 a.m. Monday at the McKinley Birthplace Home. Register at 330-652-1704, Ext. 3.

VBS AT CHURCH: Chestnut Ridge Church of God, 7215 Chestnut Ridge Road, Hubbard, will hold Vacation Bible School 6 to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday for children in kindergarten to sixth grade. Theme is “Roar: Life is Wild: God is Good. Get Ready.”

TNP GARDEN PESTS PROGRAM: Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership’s GROWing Better Gardens program — pest identification and plant disease — will be July 29 at the Laird Community Garden. Learn how to combat garden pests and learn the difference between harmful and helpful insects and arachnids. Participants will learn how to identify pest and plant diseases. Get a chance to walk through the community garden and identify examples of pests and common plant diseases found during the growing season.
