Weather wipes out antique tractor show

EVENT CANCELED: The Antique Tractor Club of Trumbull County has canceled its spring tractor show Saturday and Sunday at the club grounds in Vienna, due to the weather.

RIVERSIDE RAILROAD OPEN HOUSE: The Riverside Railroad Friends will hold an open house 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 15 at the club’s new indoor location at the YWCA Warren Center, 375 N. Park Ave., Warren.

A donation of $3 per adult will be accepted. Children are admitted free. The event is in the basement of the YWCA with an elevator.

The show features several sets of model trains making their way through a detailed miniature city setting constructed by club members.

READING KICKOFF: The summer reading program kickoff will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cortland Library Branch for children of all ages. The event will begin a summer of crafts, activities and a performance by magician Nate the Great.

CAMP REGISTRATION: Registration is open for a series of summer camps to be held at the YWCA locations in Warren and Youngstown. The “Y Girls STEAM Ahead” camps focus on activities for middle school girls in science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics in an effort to make them aware of STEAM careers later on in life.

There will be three camps at the Youngstown office 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays in conjunction with Youngstown State University’s Center for Human Services and Development, and the Youngstown Business Incubator program.

Monday begins Biz 3D Camp; June 17 to 21 is Summer Manufacturing Institute offered in partnership with OH WOW! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology, and June 24 to 28 is Multimedia Communications camp on print, radio and television communications.

GRANT AWARDED: Trumbull County Children Services was awarded a grant through the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services to become an organization certified to present the “W.I.S.E. UP!” program for TCCS’ post-adoption families.

The $10,000 grant’s intention is to create a new program or enhance current programs for post-adoption services. “W.I.S.E. UP!” will be held 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The workshop is titled “Connections Matter: Communication and the Relation with the Birth Family.”

STRAWBERRY SOCIAL: St. Paul Lutheran Church, East Market Street, Warren, will hold a strawberry social from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday.
