Red Cross looks to those who make a difference

ZERO TO HERO OPEN HOUSE: The American Red Cross is looking for the next wave of heroes who want to make a difference in the community. Disaster action team volunteers help local victims of flooding and home fires.
A disaster volunteer Zero to Hero open house is scheduled 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the chapter office, 3530 Belmont Ave., Suite 7, Liberty. Disaster volunteers receive free training and are expected to commit to at least four hours each month.
There will be a disaster volunteer who just returned from helping tornado victims in Dayton. Areas in urgent need include Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

FARMERS MARKET: The Newton Falls farmers market will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the last Saturday of each month from June through September at the community park, 25 Quarry St. The event will be held rain or shine. There will be food vendors.

PADDLEBOARD CLASS: Paddleboard classes will be held Sunday at Mosquito Lake State Park, Bazetta. Sessions are at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon. All equipment is provided.
Meet in the parking lot near the beach in the park. Dress appropriately since participants will get wet. Proper footwear is a must, and no open-toed shoes are permitted.

OUTER SPACE: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will hold a Outer Space Magic Show with Jim Kleefeld 2 p.m. today at the library auditorium.
SUMMERFEST FINALE: The Trumbull Art Gallery, 158 N. Park Ave., Warren, will hold the Summerfest finale celebration 11 a.m. Friday. Children will showcase their workshop projects, which will be on display.
There will be free ice cream and hot dogs for participants and their guests.
